Yesterday in Buenos Aires the first gay hotel of Latin America has been opened.
The hotel with 48 rooms and 5 stars is located in the neighborhood of the historical district San Telmo and it has been developed by the Spanish Company Axel, which opened in 2003 a 5 star gay hotel in Barcelona.
The Argentinean capital is getting more popular as a vacation destination for the worldwide gay circuit
Like every company we have an economic goal but we also fight for the social acceptance of homosexuals, this was stated by the manager Nacho Rodriguez.
According to Rodriguez the hotel is designed to be open and light because many hotels and meeting places for homosexuals are decided and not visible as from the street.
We wanted make our hotel open and visible. Why would we hide ours?
Swimmers in one of the two swimming pools of the hotel cannot hide themselves because the upper floor of the building exists from a swimming pool with a glazed floor that visitors can see when they walk through the hotel.
For their room door guests can choose between standard ‘ do not disturb ‘ placard or more provocative ‘ disturbs me. According to Axel the hotel is straight friendly, they expect that 15 percent that visits the hotel will be straight like in Barcelona.
Buenos Aires and Rio the Janeiro are in a battle about who will be the gay capital of Latin America.
Buenos Aires is the leading gay capital because they had the first soccer world cup for homosexuals last September.
In 2002 the Capital Buenos Aires was the first city of South America that permitted and legalized partner registration for the gay community.
